La Terre Red
Grape
variety(ies): 30% Black Grenache, 30%
Merlot, 40% Carignan
Origin: The ‘La Terre’ vineyards are located
in the South of France, more specifically in
Languedoc.
Soil: The vineyards grow on clay-and-limestone
soil.
Vinification: This wine is produced by blending
other wines. Some of these have been created
using traditional wine-making procedures (one
week in vats) whilst others result from thermo-vinification.
The wines are subsequently clarified, blended
and aged in stainless steel tanks.
Characteristics:
- Colour: Ruby red with a good intensity and
a deep purple tinge.
- Nose: A very fruity wine, characterised by
notes of blackcurrant and raspberry.
- Palate: A very supple, round and rich wine.
Recommendations: This very versatile wine will
complement a large range of dishes, such as cured
meats, salads, meats and cheeses.
La Terre White
Grape variety(ies): A blend of 80% White Ugni
and 20% Colombard.
Origin: The ‘La Terre’ vineyards are located
in the South West of France, more specifically
in Gascony.
Soil: Soil rich in sand and alluvial deposits,
themselves composed of silt, clay, sand and organic
materials, typical of Gascony. This type of soil
can warm up very quickly.
Vinification: Once they are perfectly ripe, the
grapes are harvested by machine and pressed quickly
at low temperature and under carbon dioxide,
before fermenting at very low temperature (14
to 16ºC) for a week. The wines are clarified
and stored at low temperature under inert gas.
Characteristics:
- Colour: Very pale gold with a green tinge.
- Nose: Very romantic: peaches, ripe fruit, white
flowers.
- Palate: A rich, full-bodied and fleshy wine.
Recommendations: This wine will complement fish
and shellfish but may also be enjoyed on its
own as an aperitif.
